The International Forum for Islamic Dailogue was founded in 1994 as a non-profit organisation based in London, United Kingdom. We depend primarily in implementing activities across the world on establishing working partnerships with non-governmental organisations that share our vision and goals.

The International Forum for Islamic Dialogue (IFID) believes that the way to a better future for Muslims lies through the efforts of modernisation and enlightenment, which renew a sound relationship between Muslims and their current geographical location in addition to their heritage.

Thus IFID concentrates primarily on developing a culture of dialogue among Muslims themselves, and aims to build bridges between the trends of modernisation in contemporary Islamic thought across the world and create opportunities for dialogue between them.

IFID believes that attempts to modernise Islam cannot be effective without understanding the Muslim mind (at the current time), but also believes that the approach to the Muslim mind cannot be effective without approaching the religious component, hence leading to a need to re-read the founding text for this religious component and specifically the Holy Quran.

IFID also attempts to bridge the gap between the elite and social change by adopting a method of training workshops based on contemporary values and methods of empowerment, modernisation and effective civic participation in public affairs. To achieve this goal it uses participatory workshops that target the basic foundations to plant these values and approaches to the elements of civic culture in general among contemporary Muslims, especially younger generations.
